About the role

Corgan is an in-office work environment that fosters a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. The Design Manager will work alongside a team of creative and motivated individuals, contributing to the firm's mission of delivering exceptional and innovative design solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Tackle responsibilities alongside the Studio and Sector Design Directors to set expectations, lead the design process, and challenge the project team to deliver exceptional design solutions.
  • Collaborate with other designers and managers in the studio to maintain the firm's design principles.
  • Lead the development of effective and innovative designs utilizing the firm's design approach and innovation tools.
  • Promote design excellence throughout the projects in the studio.
  • Implement the firm's design process and encourage the use of available innovation tools to achieve the firm's design and brand objectives.
  • Work with PIC / Studio Design Director to augment the project team throughout the project life, being available beyond design for CD design intent interpretations and solutions, as well as CA troubleshooting.
  • Present designs to clients, working to develop and maintain presentation skills.
  • Be an industry expert in major building systems and convey this knowledge to the team.
  • Be an expert on code implications and requirements for several major building/occupancy types.
  • Oversee the work of the Project Designers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of resources and materials and their application.
  • Direct the production of design materials that meet project objectives, including functional concepts, images, schedules, and budgets.
  • Cultivate success through high-level design and planning, facility requirements analysis, conceptual design, systems integration, and teamwork.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring codes, regulations, and industry standards are applied correctly.
  • Promote technical and professional excellence throughout the team.
  • Maintain knowledge regarding industry trends, professional practice, regulatory, and construction practice and issues.
  • Recognize needs and seek out solutions for the use of new technologies relating to project production and communications.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to the project team to achieve objectives.
  • Mentor team members and support individual development by providing coaching, feedback, and reinforcement.
  • Build the firm’s practice by inspiring and motivating Project Designers.

Requirements

  • Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
  • 10+ years in the Architectural design industry; Multifamily project experience required.
  • Built and published track record of exceptional design work in at least one or more of Corgan’s market sectors/areas of practice.
  • Familiarity with current global design trends in one or more of Corgan’s sectors.
  • A track record of public speaking in their area of expertise.
  • A demonstrated track record of consistently creating and leading teams that create high-quality work.
  • Pursues design awards and publications of work for which they were primary players.
  • Demonstrated leader, collaborator, and mentor within their respective studio.
  • A track record of successful sustainable design methods and a long-standing use and familiarity with AIA’s 2030 DDX.
  • Proficient with Revit, Word, Excel, and other graphics-related programs.
  • Experience with design and implementation, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, or other 3-D modeling programs is preferred.

  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and AIA’s 2030 DDX.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This role is an in-office position requiring regular, reliable on-site attendance from Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
