Architect - Sports (Design)
About the role
HOK New York is seeking licensed Architects for its Sports, Recreation, and Entertainment practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in sports-focused projects and will play a key role in shaping innovative sports venues.
Responsibilities
- Leadership: Advocate for and uphold the design intent of stadiums, arenas, training facilities, locker rooms, and other sports-related venues.
- Technical Coordination: Leads team in planning work and developing solutions to technical and design detail problems.
- Budget and Schedule Management: Responsible for establishing, maintaining, and adhering to project budget and schedule.
- Documentation: Supervises preparation of technical drawings, prepares client presentations, and ensures construction detail documentation conforms to QA/QC and HOK Best Practice standards.
- Sustainability: Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
- Mentoring: Mentors and directs the work of less experienced staff, participates in professional development, and reviews and "Lessons Learned" sessions.
- Client Interface: Communicates with client representatives, analyzes and develops approaches to the creation and modification of architectural documents, and attends on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinates with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications, and modifications, and obtain approvals.
- Communication: Writes reports and memos to consultants and vendors, and communicates in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
- Quality Assurance: Applies proper QA/QC methods throughout project and may lead this effort.
- Software: Uses specific software as needed for the role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years’ design experience, preferably on complex or large-scale Sports projects.
- Licensed Architect with current registration in your region required, if licensure is offered in your region.
- NCARB registration preferred.
- LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.
Qualifications
- A strong passion for sports, a commitment to design, and a collaborative approach to working with teams.
Skills
- Proficiency in relevant software tools.
Benefits
Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, education, and location. The reasonably expected ranges for this position is $85,000-$105,000. Other compensation may include a discretionary bonus.

The reasonably expected range for this position is $85,000-$105,000.
Schedule
Hybrid work environment with 10 paid holidays (including 2 floating holidays) and a minimum of 4 weeks of paid time off with a cash out option.
