About the role
We are hiring an Architect Project Manager to support the planning, design, and delivery of the City's capital improvement projects. This role ensures compliance with City standards through technical review, coordination with internal and external partners, and resolution of complex design challenges. The Architect also supports budgeting, staff guidance, and public communication to keep projects on schedule and aligned with City goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive architectural support for capital projects in the City's six-year capital improvement program (CIP), including cost estimates and related budgeting items.
- Review design and inspection activities on complex projects to ensure City staff meets city standards.
- Provide training and assistance to professional staff in preparation or review of design drawings to ensure adherence to City standards and good architectural practices.
- Investigate and resolve difficult technical development and operational problems to maintain smooth plan review procedures and project design activity.
- May assist in the planning, direction, and management of a major operational bureau to ensure an efficient and productive staff.
- Coordinate projects with several interdepartmental agencies and the private sector to meet project goals, particularly in maintaining work effort on schedule.
- Provide recommendations as staff input for Planning Commission and City Council actions to ensure the special needs of the City are met.
- Provide technical responses to citizen inquiries concerning specific projects to inform them and incorporate their input.
Requirements
- Licensed Architect.
- Strong experience in project management, construction, and design.
- Experience with municipal capital projects.
- Proven expertise in schedule and cost control, contract administration, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to upholding City standards and best architectural practices.
