About the role
The Architect III position at JCJ Architecture supports the development of design and documentation. This role requires certification as a licensed professional architect with at least eight years of related experience.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the conceptual design and provides full support through the entire project.
- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on specialized systems.
- Liaises with Project Management, other Architects, and consultants.
- Develops and represents lead technical viewpoints on projects.
- Coordinates with Director and Department Head on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies.
- Communicates and collaborates with internal and external consultant team members.
- Maintains and initiates frequent communication with JCJ team members to sustain proper information flow.
- Prepares meeting notes using standard JCJ formats.
- Maintains an ongoing vigilance about self-checking work and conveying questions or concerns to Project team leadership.
- May perform checking of junior staff level work, when requested.
- Participates in the preparation and delivery of presentations to clients both physically and virtually.
- Assumes leadership of selected portions of presentations.
- Further refines a portfolio in one market sector.
- Consistently demonstrates thorough knowledge of time management skills required to work on multiple projects of all sizes.
- Produces building project documentation from concept through construction documents.
- Creates schedules and details for partition types and doors.
- Remains current with JCJ Technical Bulletins.
- Consistently produces construction documents under the direction of the Project Architect, utilizing architectural graphic conventions of line weight, scale, and sheet organization.
- Adheres to JCJ conventions for Revit/AutoCAD standards, file and drawing organization.
- Performs site observation, including photographic and dimensional notes to document existing conditions; coordinates with Project Team.
- Accurately performs numeric tasks such as square footage calculations, device counts, and material quantity take-offs for budgeting purposes.
- Assembles collected information into budget formats that allow for assigning costs.
- Understands local zoning review and approval process to assist the PM in all necessary work for compliance.
- Maintains resource materials and data base in physical and digital libraries.
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of Materials, Systems and Equipment costs.
- Contributes information for input into Project Specifications.
- Regularly makes financial recommendations to clients.
- Implements cost management strategies in collaboration with Project Leadership.
- Participates in value engineering exercises, both to suggest alternatives and to incorporate accepted changes.
- Answers RFI’s and coordinates responses with project team.
- Uses JCJ software to review shop drawings and submittals.
- Coordinates with construction manager/contractor/procurement client team.
- Attends regular construction phase meetings.
- Coordinates with JCJ internal CA team and processes.
Qualifications
- Professional BArch or master’s in architecture
- 8+ years’ experience in architectural practice or related position
- 6+ years creating design solutions
- Advanced Computer and Information Management Skills
- Revit, AutoCAD current versions
- MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, MS Project
- 3D Rendering capability
