About the role

The ideal candidate will perform design and assist with other tasks of architectural projects in our Dallas, Texas office.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced assignments demonstrating complex professional architectural work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related architectural tasks.
  • Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of architectural principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
  • Makes decisions independently on architectural problems and methods and represents the company by resolving important questions and coordinating the work.
  • Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of architecture.
  • Coordinates with and helps resolve conflicts with other disciplines based on an excellent understanding of the design process.
  • Responsible for the preparation of project-specific construction specifications and construction administration.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously, including managerial tasks of both project and personnel nature.
  • Prepares reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and permits for projects.
  • Uses CADD to produce designs into routine final drawings and performs limited Revit and AutoCAD operations.
  • Researches code issues, presents interpretation, and properly applies codes and standards in daily work.
  • Performs Life Safety and Code Analysis and prepares Life Safety Plans.
  • Visits construction sites to review, monitor, and report progress and perform construction administration duties (e.g., shop drawing review, attending site meetings, reviewing RFIs, preparing ASIs, PRs, status reports).
  • Uses company and discipline department computer-assisted drafting and design software to prepare architectural and design documents.
  • Supervises, coordinates, and checks the work of drafters, designers, and other architects; mentors staff members.
  • Provides coordination of all applicable project discipline’s drawings and specifications.
  • Assists in preparing design budgets, marketing proposals, and cost estimates.
  • Assists in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects and business development.
  • Promotes communications, cooperation, and quality among staff.
  • Prepares forecast of workload and resources for assigned projects and/or department.
  • Monitors project budgets and coordinates with the Project Manager regarding adjustments to maintain profitability.
  • Ensures meeting project schedules, timely completion, and quality of assigned projects.
  • Delivers at least one technical training session to staff per year in each office.
  • May serve as a project manager or project architect on assigned projects.
  • Signs and seals documents as Architect of Record (AOR).
  • Assists in marketing, presentations, and leads business development.
  • Actively participates in local, state, and/or national professional organizations.
  • Responsible for job-specific standards, practices, and quality as defined in BRPH Quality Standards and Discipline Director’s initiatives.
  • Develops proposals and agreements for assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Ten years of experience as an architect.
  • Must have passed the exam and be certified as a Professional Registered Architect.
  • Technically competent to sign and seal construction documents.
  • Experience in managing midsize to large projects.
  • Possess a Certificate of Licensed Registered Architect.
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Project, Navisworks or BIM 360, Newforma, Bluebeam, and Word.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD or Revit building analysis and energy modeling software.
  • Working knowledge of CADD to produce designs into routine final drawings.
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of construction techniques and constructability.
  • Advanced understanding of codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of sustainable/green strategies.
  • Understanding of different project delivery methods.
  • Strong independent judgment and ability to apply non-routine, complex architectural solutions.
  • Ability to promote and represent the firm in a professional manner.

Physical Requirements

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
