Archeologist
Job Summary
Ducks Unlimited, Inc., in partnership with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), is seeking a full-time Archeologist to assist in archaeological research and project coordination.
About the Role
The position involves assisting in identifying potential archaeological sites, determining locations of cultural resources, and developing technical cultural resource sections of documents. The incumbent will prepare reports and attend staff meetings.
Responsibilities
- Research archaeological databases and other records systems to identify potential sites
- Determine locations of major cultural resources in different environments
- Adapt methodologies to address each site
- Investigate proposed projects on state, tribal, and private lands to comply with NRCS policy and state/federal laws
- Develop technical cultural resource sections of contracts, environmental and agreement documents
- Prepare reports of findings and recommendations for NRCS and other agencies
- Attend regular staff meetings
- Maintain accurate daily records of time distribution and work accomplishments
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or related field
- CRM project management experience
- 3+ years of relevant field and report writing experience
Qualifications
- Quality communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to support projects in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Pass all pre-hire screenings
- Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Anthropology or related field
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Expertise in state and federal laws and guidelines governing cultural resources management
- Knowledge of the Secretary of the Interior’s professional qualifications standards for archaeology and eligibility to become an RPA
Benefits
- Salary range of $65,000 to $95,000
