Archaeologist I

About the role

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Archaeologist to support environmental planning projects (e.g., linear infrastructure projects) within California. Assignments may, on occasion, include work outside of California.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological field work for projects at all levels of investigation, including survey, testing excavation and evaluation, site recording, and construction monitoring.
• Prepare technical reports and related documentation.
• Work collaboratively with a diverse, multidisciplinary team across the U.S.
• Apply technical knowledge to support archaeological services over a range of sectors, including linear utilities, oil and gas, mining, rail and transit, and renewable energies.
• Conduct cultural resources surveys, and manage small field crews, as appropriate, for larger projects.
• Use excellent technical writing and communications skills to author technical documents and provide survey details and results to project teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Required: Bachelor’s Degree in anthropology/archaeology
• 1 year of experience in cultural resources management
• Demonstrated practical field experience in California
• Working knowledge of GPS systems and the collection of field data
• Basic knowledge of California tribes, culture areas, and material culture
• Basic knowledge of cultural resources management, regulatory requirements, and environmental laws
• PREFERRED: Secretary of the Interior (SOI) qualified

Pay

The salary range for this position is $70,304 - $82,800 / per year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.

Schedule

Arcadis offers a flexible working environment and follows a hybrid work structure. A successful candidate can expect to work remotely and from the office, as needed, based on demands of project and client teams.
