Sales and Production Associate
The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers seek a Sales and Production Associate to contribute to recycling goods that help repair broken lives. This position supports the work therapy program and performs a variety of duties including handling donations, restocking merchandise, and assisting with sorting and pricing.
Responsibilities
- Handle all donations with care and donors with respect and courtesy.
- Restock fitting room merchandise back to racks in proper category and color code.
- Maintain merchandise displays as directed.
- Answer telephone calls in an efficient, friendly, professional manner.
- Ensure store is sufficiently stocked and “ragged out” according to the “ARC COMMAND RAG OUT CALENDAR.”
- Assist with cleaning and general maintenance of store property.
- Immediately report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and any unsafe equipment or conditions to management.
- Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area.
- Be well-versed in and comply with the Guide to Thrift Store & Donation Center Operations manual.
- Support the work therapy program component by providing professional conduct, work habits, and supervision (as directed).
- Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor, Store Supervisor, Assistant Store Supervisor, and/or Administrator.
Qualifications
- Cashier/Sales Floor: Comply with all cash handling and security standards, sort, price, stock and “rag out” showcase merchandise, restock fitting room merchandise, maintain merchandise displays, answer telephone calls, and straighten and maintain clothing racks.
- Sorter: Minimum of 300 store quality garments an hour by department, assist moving donations to the sorting table, assist with hanging merchandise, assist running clothing racks, and place garments on racks.
- Pricer: Price a minimum of 250 garments an hour, acquire and maintain knowledge of name brand merchandise and value, assist moving donations to the sorting table, assist ticketing merchandise, and assist with running clothing racks.
- Raner: Place a minimum of 225 garments an hour from the production room to the sales floor, straighten and maintain clothing racks, and assist with ragging out the sales floor.
- Bric a Brac: Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily, ticket all merchandise, and assign individual fair market prices.
- Shoes/Accessories: Sort and clean all saleable shoes, handbags, and accessory donations daily, ticket all merchandise, and assign individual fair market prices.
- Domestics: Sort and measure all saleable linen items daily, ticket all merchandise, and assign individual fair market prices.
- Books/Records/Toys: Sort and clean all saleable merchandise daily, ticket all merchandise, and assign individual fair market prices.
- Furniture/Electrical: Sort, clean, and test all electrical and furniture donations as required, ticket all electrical merchandise, and assign individual fair market prices.
- Donations/Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of the sales floor, bathrooms, entry, windows, sidewalks, and parking areas daily, accept donations, receive and receipt donated material, maintain cleanliness of all donation facilities, safeguard donated materials and equipment, ensure a constant flow of donations to the sorting table, assist with ragging out the sales floor, bale ragouts and trash as required, and perform lawn and garden work as needed.
Able to lift 100 pounds. Receive and receipt, as per policy, all donated material in a courteous and efficient manner. Maintain cleanliness of all donation facilities. Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment. Ensure a constant flow of donations to the sorting table throughout the day. Assist with ragging out the sales floor as assigned. Bale ragouts and trash as required. Perform lawn and garden work as needed. Ability to speak and understand English for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries, and customers. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to understand and follow directions. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
