ARC Sales and Production Associate

About the role

The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers provide financial support through the collection and resale of gently used goods, assisting individuals with social and spiritual challenges. This role supports the in-residence rehabilitation program by contributing to a clean, healthy, and structured environment while helping recycle goods that aid in repairing lives.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
• Support store operations, serving customers courteously and efficiently.
• Handle donations with care, treating donors with respect and courtesy.
• Manage merchandise as directed, ensuring proper categorization and colorization.
• Keep the store stocked and organized according to the "ARC Command Rag Out Calendar."
• Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of store property.
• Report theft, customer complaints, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management immediately.
• Comply with the Guide to Thrift Store & Donation Center Operations manual.
• Support the work therapy program by modeling professional conduct and work habits.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Cashier/Sales Floor

• Adhere to cash handling and security standards for register operations, sales reports, and bank deposits.
• Sort, price, stock, and "rag out" showcase merchandise as directed.
• Restock fitting room merchandise to racks by category and color code.
• Maintain merchandise displays.
• Answer telephone calls professionally and efficiently.

Production Duties

• Sorter: Sort a minimum of 300 store-quality garments per hour by department. Assist with moving donations, hanging merchandise, and running clothing racks.
• Hanger/Tagger: Hang and ticket a minimum of 225 pieces of clothing per hour on rolling racks, ensuring correct hanger type and category.
• Pricer: Price a minimum of 250 garments per hour based on style, quality, and condition. Recognize and value name-brand merchandise.
• Runner: Move a minimum of 225 garments per hour from the production room to the sales floor, organizing by department, category, and color. Maintain and straighten clothing racks.
• Bric-a-Brac: Sort, clean, and ticket miscellaneous merchandise daily, assigning fair market prices. Maintain organization and "rag out" as scheduled.
• Shoes/Accessories: Sort, clean, and process a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour. Ticket and price items, maintaining organization and "ragging out" as scheduled.
• Domestics: Sort, measure, and process a minimum of 25 pieces/sets of linens per hour. Ticket and price items, maintaining organization and "ragging out" as scheduled.
• Books/Records/Toys: Sort, clean, and ticket merchandise daily, assigning fair market prices and maintaining organization. "Rag out" as scheduled.
• Furniture/Electrical: Sort, clean, and test donations. Ticket electrical items with "sold as is" labels and furniture with required information. Assign fair market prices and maintain organization. Mark down items as per policy.
• Donations/Maintenance:
  • Maintain cleanliness of sales floor, bathrooms, entryways, windows, sidewalks, and parking areas.
  • Accept donations courteously and efficiently, adhering to standard policies.
  • Lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Receive and receipt donated materials as per policy.
  • Maintain cleanliness of donation facilities.
  • Safeguard donated materials and assigned equipment.
  • Ensure a steady flow of donations to the sorting table.
  • Assist with "ragging out" the sales floor, baling ragouts and trash as required.
  • Perform lawn and garden work as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to speak and understand English for effective communication.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to follow directions and work under supervision.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Pay

Minimum USD $16.00 per hour.

Schedule

Regular part-time.
