About the role

The ARC Plant Operator is responsible for performing preventive, routine, and minor maintenance in the Lead and Hazardous Waste Disposal areas. They operate production equipment and carry out changeovers on production machines and related support equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, routine, and minor maintenance in the Lead and Hazardous Waste Disposal areas.
  • Operate production equipment related to remelting lead, producing lead shot, incinerating hazardous waste, and recycling materials.
  • Carry out changeovers on production machines and related support equipment as needed and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain productivity levels to meet all established goals in the Lead and Hazardous Waste Disposal areas while adhering to all quality standards.
  • Follow both oral and written instructions, wear necessary protective equipment, and comply with all plant safety rules and regulations.
  • Serve as a mentor to Technicians in training to ensure process integrity and that best practices are being followed.
  • Operate hand tools, acetylene torches, forklift, and other mobile equipment.

Requirements

  • Complete Hazardous Waste Management training within six months of starting the job and annually thereafter.
  • High School diploma, G.E.D. certificate, or recognized equivalent and 18 years of age or older.
  • One year of verifiable experience with the same or similar manufacturing equipment and tasks as those in place in the assigned work area(s).
  • High attentiveness for safety and detection of problems.
  • Reading and math comprehension to understand and interpret quality information (SPC, charts, graphs, etc.), and to complete production reporting.
  • Interpersonal communication skills to problem-solve and to function effectively as part of a work team.
  • Flexibility to move between jobs and to handle many tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with numbers and carry out quick calculations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform assigned responsibilities under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with co-workers.
  • Above average housekeeping skills (cleanliness of work area).
  • Excellent safety record and demonstrated above average safe work habits.
  • Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator.
  • Must possess basic computer skills sufficient to navigate menus and fill in basic forms, open and print, and edit documents.

Qualifications

  • Must pass the company’s standard mechanical aptitude evaluation for Mechanics.

Pay

The starting hourly rate is $27.34. The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
