About the role
Inspect, repair and replace furnace and AOD vessel linings. Install refractory and tuyeres. Mortar, lay and cut bricks according to drawings, ram roof and furnace refractory and replace arc/AOD shell brick as required. Remove damaged or worn parts and linings using chisels, hammers, bars, etc. Perform routine maintenance on arc furnaces. Operate power lift truck as needed to transport materials. Maintain inventory of parts, lining materials, etc. Assist with induction furnace repairs as needed.
Requirements
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Basic blueprint knowledge
- Experience with basic measuring instruments
- Able to lift and carry 75 lbs
- Good general knowledge of induction furnaces
- Familiarity with a variety of refractory materials
