About the role

The Analytical Research and Development (ARD) Scientist I performs laboratory analyses of raw materials, in-process (IP), finished products (FP), and stability (ST) samples under supervision. This role involves maintaining and calibrating analytical instruments, collaborating with senior scientists, and supporting product and analytical method development.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with company policies, SOPs, and state, federal, and local laws.
  • Set up and operate analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, UV/Vis, TLC, automatic titration, dissolution apparatus) to support sample testing.
  • Perform laboratory analyses (blend uniformity, content uniformity, assay, dissolution) of IP, FP, and ST samples per given instructions.
  • Prepare standard and sample solutions as required by test methods.
  • Perform wet chemistry tests (LOD, pH, titration) and physical tests (particle size, viscosity, density).
  • Perform calculations associated with test analyses and document results in laboratory notebooks compliant with cGDPs.
  • Create ARD SOPs as needed.
  • Safely dispose of chemical waste and maintain laboratory instruments to comply with cGLPs and cGMPs.
  • Clean and organize ARD lab areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in analytical/method development or method validation in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, or a Master’s degree with 0-3 years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience with spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques (HPLC, UV/Vis, GC, TLC, dissolution apparatus).
  • Understanding of cGMP, FDA, DEA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to perform analytical testing, calculations, wet chemistry, and physical testing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed team environment.
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written).

Physical Requirements

  • Laboratory-based position with the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

Pay

Anticipated salary range: $63,000 to $85,000. Base salary is contingent on candidate’s education and experience relative to position requirements and industry standards.
