About the role
The AR Account Specialist role is critical to the success of Chefman's growth strategy. This position sits at the intersection of collections, retailer compliance, and cash flow management.
Responsibilities
- Own the full chargeback process — investigate, dispute, and resolve deductions and chargebacks from Amazon and other major retail accounts with urgency and precision
- Manage Amazon Vendor Central activity end to end — including deductions, short pays, disputes, and portal management, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks
- Recover revenue — proactively identify invalid deductions, build dispute cases with supporting documentation, and follow through until resolution
- Maintain and update customer account records including balances, payment history, and account activity
- Apply and reconcile incoming payments including checks, wires, credit cards, and other remittances
- Maintain and update customer account records including balances, payment history, and account activity
- Monitor aging reports and outstanding balances to drive timely collections and escalate risk to leadership
- Generate and distribute accurate customer invoices in a timely manner
- Monitor EDI invoicing platforms to ensure successful transmission of all invoices
- Communicate account issues, risks, and collection concerns to the Controller and accounting leadership
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in accounts receivable or related accounting functions
- Demonstrated hands-on experience managing chargebacks, deductions, and disputes with Amazon and other major big box retailers
- Proven track record of successfully disputing and recovering invalid chargebacks through Vendor Central or similar retailer portals
- Deep familiarity with the types of deductions retailers issue — pricing, shipping, compliance, shortage claims — and how to build a winning dispute
- Experience working with accounting ERP systems — NetSuite strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Experience with HighRadius is a plus
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Analytical, resourceful, and persistent with a strong follow-through mindset — someone who does not give up on a valid dispute
