Aquatics Specialist
About the role
This position assists the Aquatics Maintenance Coordinator with routine facility and pool maintenance and with Aquatic Center visitors. It is a part-time position without benefits.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site inspections and evaluations to ensure compliance with department and City safety policies and procedures.
- Provide general facility cleanup of grounds and facilities, including, but not limited to, picking up trash, stocking and cleaning restrooms, and parking lots, utilizing various manually operated tools and equipment.
- Assist Aquatics Maintenance Coordinator with Pool repair and maintenance.
- Daily use of portable pool vacuum, automatic pool vacuum, and pressure washer equipment.
- Provide front-line customer service to park and Aquatic Center visitors, rentals, and event and sports participants.
- Enforce rules and regulations while monitoring the security of facilities.
- Assist in special events, rentals, programs, and activities, as requested.
- Absorb and store equipment and supplies.
- Complete and file accident and incident reports, daily reports, and report issues as required by the department.
Requirements
- A High School diploma or GED equivalency is required.
- One year (1) of general and/or aquatic maintenance and customer service experience is required.
- A valid Arizona Driver's License is required.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.
Skills
Must be able to read work orders and implement repairs. Work requires the ability to read schedules, basic facility plans, and correspondence (i.e. e-mails) from the recreation office. Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages. Work requires the ability to write simple instructions and guides. Must be able to work with citizens or participants in accordance with recreation policies and procedures.
Benefits
Temporary employees may be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) if they work 20 or more hours per week for at least 20 weeks within a fiscal year. Participation may also be required if the employee is already contributing to ASRS through another employer. Temporary employees hired on or after March 4, 2024, will accrue sick leave at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours. Accrued sick leave may be used beginning on the 90th calendar day of employment.
