Aquatics Director- Full Time

About the role

We are seeking an Aquatics Director to join our team at the Greater Philadelphia YMCA. Our mission is to positively impact the community through programs that help children reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Understand overall branch revenue and program goals, plan and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department goals, membership goals and member engagement
  • Champion a culture where teams love to work, and members love to visit; recognize member-centered behaviors and reward outstanding performance
  • Create and sustain an environment that values all people for their unique talents. Take an active role in promoting and leveraging practices that support diversity, inclusion, global engagement, and cultural competence
  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evening, and weekends)
  • Ensure the swimming facility meets or exceeds Aquatic Safety Standards
  • Facilitate monthly in-service meetings that include skill review
  • Supervise staff and ensure appropriate staffing of pool
  • Cook up a rotation of staff
  • Ensure program quality and monitor staff performance and member service
  • Develop high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness, that meet the community's needs
  • Ensure safety and prevent injuries by supervising the pool area

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Graduate or Equivalent
  • Experience in fitness, retail, recreation management or hospitality industries
  • Experience supervising and managing preferred
  • Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence

Qualifications

  • Pursue American Red Cross Lifeguard certification as well as YMCA swim lesson instructor certification upon hire
