AQUATIC CENTER LIFEGUARDS

Duties

• Assists the Henry County Parks and Recreation Aquatics team with supervising daily program activities, daily services, and special event activities within the aquatics facility.
• Assists with general aquatics operations, including handling general questions about daily program schedules, lane usage opportunities, and events held at the aquatic facility.
• Performs water rescues as prescribed by the American National Red Cross Training Program and First Aid/CPR/AED skills as necessary to respond to emergency situations throughout the facility.
• Maintains the safety of visitors using the facilities.
• Maintains the conduct and performance of the lifeguards.
• Holds the proper designated position before allowing swimmers to enter any pool area.
• Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly maintenance tasks to maintain the pool and locker room areas of the aquatic facilities.
• Completes neat and concise written reports as needed to include, but not limited to, incident reports and attendance worksheets/reports.
• Operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
• Communicates with County City officials, supervisor, other employees, clients, third party service contractors, laborers, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Must successfully complete the American Red Cross National Lifeguard Training Program which includes water rescue skills, First Aid, and CPR for infant, child, adult, and multi rescue situations.

Physical Demands

• The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
• Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a workstation.
• Requires mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word and have close visual acuity.
• Exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, humidity, temperature extremes, or traffic hazards.
