Summary
Aids in the care and education of patients under the supervision of a physician.
- Assesses physical and psychological patient status through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Prescribes medications, blood products, and diagnostic studies based on laboratory results and practice protocols.
- Determines patient eligibility for clinical trials and interprets test findings.
- Communicates patient care information to collaborating physicians.
- Administers therapeutic measures and collects specimens as prescribed.
- Drafts follow-up letters to referring physicians summarizing treatment plans.
- Drafts or writes patient history, progress notes, and discharge notes.
Education/Certifications & Licenses
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, master’s degree in nursing, or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program.
- 0-3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Florida.
- Current license/registration to practice in the state of Florida.
- Certified from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation (ONCC).
- BLS certified.

- Analytical skills to evaluate patients' status, health care procedures, and monitor patient care quality.
- Fiscal skills to manage and control costs and revenues.
- Sound judgment and discretion in problem-solving and exploring solutions with the physician population.
