Summary
Aids the physician in patient care and education.
- Assesses physical and psychosocial status of patients through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies.
- Writes prescriptions for medications, blood products, based on lab results, diagnostic and follow-up studies, and therapeutic measures, following established protocols.
- Determines patient eligibility for clinical trial participation.
- Interprets and evaluates study/test findings and communicates relevant patient care information to collaborating physicians.
- Administers therapeutic measures and collects specimens as prescribed.
- Drafts follow-up letters to referring physicians summarizing treatment, response, and plans.
- Drafts or writes patient history, admission, progress, and discharge notes promptly.
- Supports family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic patient care phases.
- Participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds to ensure quality patient care.
- Triage patients based on urgency of physician evaluation.
- Documents and reports care accurately and timely using appropriate forms and records.
- Showcases willingness to learn and adapt to the evolving healthcare environment.
- Assists staff during crises or emergencies.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and promotes cancer treatment to the public.
- Demonstrates flexibility in meeting FCS business needs.
- Works overtime as required.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, master’s degree in nursing, or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program.
- 9+ years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Current license/registration to practice in the state of Florida, including prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply.
- Certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation (ONCC).
- BLS certified.
