About the role
Aprio invites high-performing accounting students interested in Audit or Tax to apply for the 2028 Spring (January–April) or Summer (June–August) Internship Programs. This internship is designed for students eager to contribute, take initiative, and gain meaningful exposure to public accounting. We seek candidates who demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, leadership potential, and a commitment to professional excellence.
Applicants should be interested in pursuing a full-time career in public accounting, be on track to pursue their CPA license, and have a clear plan for completing the required coursework and examination process. Interns at Aprio dive directly into hands-on client work, collaborating with experienced professionals while developing the technical and professional skills necessary for a successful career in public accounting.
Schedule
- No classes are permitted during the internship period.
- Spring internships: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, standard business hours.
- Summer internships: 32 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, standard business hours.
- This internship is fully in-office to maximize mentorship, collaboration, and real-time learning.

Responsibilities
Tax Intern
- Assist with the preparation of tax returns.
- Support clients in tax research and planning strategies.
- Analyze financial data to identify tax-saving opportunities and compliance considerations.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver innovative and practical tax solutions.
- Interact with professionals across the firm to support client service initiatives.

Audit Intern
- Assist with assurance engagements.
- Support teams in evaluating internal controls and financial reporting processes.
- Analyze financial data and documentation to identify potential risks or areas for improvement.
- Participate in testing procedures and audit documentation.
- Collaborate with team members to help clients maintain compliance with evolving accounting standards.
- Potential travel to client sites.

Requirements
- Accounting major pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
- Minimum 3.3 GPA.
- On track to meet CPA eligibility requirements with a clear plan to pursue CPA licensure.
- Interest in pursuing a full-time career in public accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to apply Excel skills in data analysis and reporting.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving, and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with clients and team members.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. No visa sponsorship is available for this position.
Pay
$33 an hour. Salary varies by internship and office location.
