Apprentice Utility Technician

About the role

The Apprentice – Utility Technician position at Aqua Ohio offers an introduction to the exciting opportunities in the water and wastewater industry. This 6-month apprenticeship program aims to prepare successful candidates for a full-time position as a Utility Technician at one of our Aqua locations in Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water distribution and sewer collection system facilities, including water mains, valves, hydrants, service lines, sanitary sewer manholes, etc.
• Utilize company technology to ensure assigned work is captured within work order management applications.
• Ensure daily work complies with OEPA and PUCO regulatory requirements for operations.
• Comply with established company safety policies and procedures.
• Perform maintenance on equipment used in the maintenance of the water and/or wastewater system.
• Read and interpret maps, drawings, and schematics, including GIS data.
• Locate and mark mains, services, and other facilities for construction work.
• Perform customer service, meter reading, and treatment plant operations work as assigned.
• Satisfy internal and external customer requirements through effective communication and initiative.
• Communicate via email and text.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Proficiency in using computer/tablet Windows-based applications.
• Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
• Able to walk long distances.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school student looking for a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the water/wastewater industry.
• Must be tired of job hunting and seeking a lifelong career.

Skills

• Effective communication skills.
