Due to growth and promotions, we are hiring Apprentice Telecom Linemen who have an interest in growing with our company. This position is based out of our Manchester, NH location.
Responsibilities
- Read maps (design) and run assist wheel and figure 8 fiber
- Climb poles and be productive
- Build strand, lash cable and fiber, and handle basic pole transfers
- Assemble stock (e.g., snow shoes, bands)
- Load a lasher
- Handle crew paperwork (e.g., production for the day and documentation)
- Use all tools and stock effectively
- Stock truck with materials for the day’s job assignment
- Check oil and perform vehicle inspection report (VIR) before every shift
- Maintain general organization and cleanliness of truck (inside and out)
- Support the advancement and training of junior crew members
- Prioritize safety for yourself and all crew members or individuals on the job site
Requirements
- Proven ability to maintain punctuality and good attendance
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Ability to make independent judgments and perform repetitive tasks
- Comfort working at heights, operating a bucket truck, and climbing ladders
- Regular contact with co-workers and customers
- Obtain and pass OSHA-10 Certification within 90 days of start date
- Pass a background check and drug screens
- Pass and maintain a DOT Physical
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Understand that travel, night, weekend, holiday work, and on-call responsibilities may be required
- Expect overtime as needed
Schedule
Normal working hours are 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, but start and end times may vary due to customer or job demands.
Work Environment
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold, wet conditions, airborne dust, and excessively loud noises
- Frequent lifting of 40 lbs from floor to above head
- Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach, and use both hands and feet in aerial and underground capacities
- Exposure to hazards or physical risks requiring basic safety precautions
