Apprentice Teaching Assistant
About the role
The Oakwood Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant Apprentice to support students with special educational needs. The role involves working alongside a supportive team to help students achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Support students with special educational needs in the classroom and beyond
- Assist in developing individual education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to enhance student outcomes
- Participate in professional development activities to improve teaching methods and support strategies
Requirements
- Passion for working with students with special educational needs
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of special educational needs and how to support students
Qualifications
- GCSEs at grades C or above, preferably in English and Maths
- Experience working with children and young people
- Knowledge of special educational needs and how to support students
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Patience and empathy towards students with special educational needs
- Basic knowledge of special educational needs and support strategies

Pay and Schedule
The actual salary range for this position is £11,427 - £18,154.66 per annum, with a term-time only contract of 32.5 hours per week starting from 1st September 2026.
Schedule
This is a term-time only position, with a fixed-term apprenticeship.
