Apprentice Teacher

About the Role

An entry-level opportunity for individuals with limited or no teaching experience to gain hands-on classroom practice and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Observe and learn from experienced teachers and school leaders.
• Co-teach with teacher-leaders and provide substitute coverage.
• Support students through tutoring, grading, and small group instruction.
• Potentially lead their own class with a limited teaching load.
• Assist with enrichment classes, student events, and mentoring.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and coaching sessions.
• Implement curricula, design assessments, and utilize data to improve instruction.
• Contribute to school-wide activities, supervise students, and communicate effectively with families and colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Passion for working with K-12 students.
• Self-motivated, responsible, adaptable, and reflective.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in supporting urban students and working in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior experience in schools or urban communities is preferred but not mandatory.
• Alignment with the organization’s educational mission and core beliefs.
