Apprentice Maintenance Technician - PCS (Days)

About the role

his role is intended for our Malta site Fab 8, a 300mm leading edge semiconductor manufacturing facility. As a Maintenance Technician Apprentice, you are responsible for monitoring, sustaining, and improving the equipment and/or processes in the assigned area, while working in partnership with production team members and area engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve equipment and processes in the assigned area
  • Monitor, control, and test semiconductor equipment for manufacturing readiness
  • Recover equipment from process interruptions, complete event documentation, and effectively communicate end of shift pass downs
  • Follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks
  • Work independently and collaboratively with teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Support and engage in training activities
  • Perform preventive, and corrective maintenance on equipment as required per the operating procedures
  • Communicate updates on the status of equipment and area to the Lead Tech and/or Engineer

Qualifications

  • High School Degree (or equivalent)
  • Education: Complete four college courses through HVCC during the 18-24 month apprenticeship, at no cost to the employee
  • Skills: Follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks; ability to perform work activities in a safe and responsible manner in line with all FAB8 EHS&S policies; ability to work in a standing position for >85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks); ability to walk on uneven surfaces for >85% of a 12-hour shift; ability to lift, pull, and/or carry at least 50 pounds periodically throughout the shift; ability to perform activities that include climbing vertical ladders, bending at waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching up/over, and crawling for >85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks); ability to utilize computer (typing, visual screen time) for >85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks); ability to work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol/requirements; ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required clean room clothing per semiconductor protocol/requirements for a minimum of 10 hours a day; ability to wear upgraded PPE in accordance with GF safety procedures, including, but not limited to, safety shoes, safety glasses, chemical splash apron & gloves, and full-face shield, when required; ability to remain in compliance with OSHA & NIOSH standard CFR 29 1910.134 (clean shaven) to don and work in an N95 Dust Mask or other air filtering devices, to include full-face respirator (cartridge & supplied air) for extended periods of time (> 2 hours)

Preferred Functions - Skills

  • Review Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and react to Out-of-Control conditions including defect troubleshooting
  • Develop & enhance operating procedures
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement projects, learning and skills development
  • Experience utilizing basic hand tools and quality workmanship principles
  • Experience with troubleshooting and structured problem-solving techniques
  • Basic understanding of the principles of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs

Schedule

  • Alternating Week Shift Schedules
  • Shift Week 1: Sunday to Wednesday 6:00AM to 6:30PM
  • Shift Week 2: Sunday to Tuesday 6:00AM to 6:30PM

Pay

The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location. An offer with GlobalFoundries is conditioned upon the successful completion of pre-employment conditions, as applicable, and subject to applicable laws and regulations.
