Apprentice IT Technician

About the role

The Apprentice IT Technician will work as part of the IT team to provide a high quality, efficient and effective technical support service for staff and students in the College.

Responsibilities

• Responding to and resolving basic IT support requests submitted to the Helpdesk.
• Aiding users with password resets and account access issues.
• Replacing printer toner and supporting the maintenance of printing devices.
• Managing and updating IT stock inventories, including equipment tracking and asset records.
• Providing first-line support to students and staff for common hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Escalate more complex technical problems to senior members of the IT team when required.
• Assisting with the preparation, deployment, and maintenance of IT equipment.
• Delivering friendly and professional customer service while helping users resolve technical issues.

Requirements

This role requires a passion for IT support and customer service, as well as a willingness to learn and develop practical IT skills. Previous experience in a similar role is not essential but would be advantageous.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a relevant qualification in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience. A good understanding of computer systems and networks is essential.

Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic IT troubleshooting skills are also required.
