What To Expect

You will work under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Electrician on all phases of commercial PV, energy storage and super charging stations.

Skills

  • Skills in all areas of electrical are not necessarily required, but the job can and will involve a variety of electrical disciplines.
  • A strong candidate will be able to perform a variety of electrical tasks from distribution/production power, lighting and low voltage.

Responsibilities

Working as a team with the entire energy department, the apprentice electrician assists with new installations of:

  • Power distribution
  • Transformers
  • Lighting
  • Electrical equipment
  • 480 VAC up to 1000VDC
  • Inverters
  • Batteries
  • DC strings

Requirements

This role is 80% travel.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain and troubleshoot various types of electrical components
  • Use complex electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Consult manuals, read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
  • Perform a wide variety of job scopes (installing modules, racking, and any other required tasks)
  • Display positive attitudes and practices good work ethics that reflect the mission, philosophy, and goals of the company
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner and provide feedback

Qualifications

  • Must have compliant government issued identification for domestic air travel and/or to access certain federal facilities
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Must be a Registered Trainee with the DIR or able to register and enroll in a state approved trainee course
  • Knowledge of basic electrical theory and Ohms law
  • Must have 1-4 years of electrical experience
  • Experience working with 120/208, 480/277 VAC
  • Ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics
  • Ability to install electrical equipment
  • Ability to produce parts lists and work plans based off drawings or field walks and routing
  • Ability to produce as-built drawings for work performed
  • Ability to test and commission all work per Tesla procedures
  • Ability to complete job scopes outside of normal core competencies as required
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety with the ability to thoroughly evaluate job hazards and complete pre-work task planning with an emphasis on identifying electrical hazards and proper safety procedures
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. frequently
  • Ability to work in high elevation
  • Ability to work in extreme environments
  • Ability to perform repetitive duties for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds frequently
  • Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with all levels of management
  • High degree of initiative
  • Ability to work alone and effectively with others
