What To Expect
You will work under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Electrician on all phases of commercial PV, energy storage and super charging stations.
Skills
- Skills in all areas of electrical are not necessarily required, but the job can and will involve a variety of electrical disciplines.
- A strong candidate will be able to perform a variety of electrical tasks from distribution/production power, lighting and low voltage.
Responsibilities
Working as a team with the entire energy department, the apprentice electrician assists with new installations of:
- Power distribution
- Transformers
- Lighting
- Electrical equipment
- 480 VAC up to 1000VDC
- Inverters
- Batteries
- DC strings
Requirements
This role is 80% travel.
What You'll Do
- Maintain and troubleshoot various types of electrical components
- Use complex electrical schematics and blueprints
- Consult manuals, read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
- Perform a wide variety of job scopes (installing modules, racking, and any other required tasks)
- Display positive attitudes and practices good work ethics that reflect the mission, philosophy, and goals of the company
- Complete tasks in a timely manner and provide feedback
Qualifications
- Must have compliant government issued identification for domestic air travel and/or to access certain federal facilities
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Must be a Registered Trainee with the DIR or able to register and enroll in a state approved trainee course
- Knowledge of basic electrical theory and Ohms law
- Must have 1-4 years of electrical experience
- Experience working with 120/208, 480/277 VAC
- Ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics
- Ability to install electrical equipment
- Ability to produce parts lists and work plans based off drawings or field walks and routing
- Ability to produce as-built drawings for work performed
- Ability to test and commission all work per Tesla procedures
- Ability to complete job scopes outside of normal core competencies as required
- Strong working knowledge of job site safety with the ability to thoroughly evaluate job hazards and complete pre-work task planning with an emphasis on identifying electrical hazards and proper safety procedures
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. frequently
- Ability to work in high elevation
- Ability to work in extreme environments
- Ability to perform repetitive duties for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds frequently
- Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with all levels of management
- High degree of initiative
- Ability to work alone and effectively with others
