Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Bend conduit
- Pull wire
- Utilize hand tools
- Take an active role in prioritizing safety in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards
- Assist co-workers in the service, repair, calibration, regulation, fine-tuning, and testing of machines, devices, electrical systems, conductors, and associated equipment at aggregate, asphalt, ready-mix concrete, ship, and rail unloading systems
- Assist co-workers in stringing overhead and underground lines and cables and in installing conduit and wire
- Learn how to read and draw simple electrical sketches
- Work with blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine safe and effective installation procedures
- Detect and diagnose all electrical wiring, appliances, fixtures, machinery problems, failing components, and malfunctions while making corrections and striving to improve equipment reliability
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Working on Electrical certification, some college preferred
- Must display a positive attitude, willingness to learn and grow, ability to take direction from others, and have clear communication skills
- Previous experience in construction or industrial electrical work is preferred
- Must have some knowledge of electrical tools, their uses, and maintenance
- Must have a strong knowledge of electrical codes and electrical theory
- Motor control is preferred (NEC, NESC, & MSHA)
Qualifications
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises
- Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands
- Must have a valid driver's license
