Apprentice - Compliance Fuel Technician

About the role

Performs several duties pertaining to fuel systems integrity testing. Primarily completes petroleum support work orders and jobs at retail, commercial, and private fueling facilities. Shares results of testing and correction procedures with company partners and customers with speed and accuracy.

Travel is expected in this role. Compliance Technicians travel 2–3 weeks per month and are home on weekends. Hotels and a generous per diem are provided.

Responsibilities

  • Prepping the site for testing
  • Setting up testing and safety equipment
  • Removal of manhole lids for underground storage tank access
  • Driving a DOT-registered commercial motor vehicle
  • Performing a variety of fuel containment tests, equipment integrity tests, and leak-detection tests to detect leaks or prevent future leaks due to non-compliance or equipment failure

Requirements

  • Must pass a company-paid DOT physical and drug screen
  • Must possess a clean driving record
  • Mechanical background, experience with hand tools, and trades or industrial/commercial settings are a plus
  • Physical capability: lifting 10–50 lbs, kneeling, bending, handling, reaching, and standing
  • Independent work ability and effective communication skills
  • Basic technology knowledge for documentation

Pay

Hourly rate: $18.00, with an average of 12–15 hours of overtime per week paid at time and a half. Per diem: $50.00 per day, added directly to the weekly paycheck and not taxed.
