About the role

Responsibilities
- Replacing simple parts through to solving complex faults with the use of diagnostic methods and equipment
- Follow recognised diagnostic procedures, logical diagnostic sequence and apply advanced diagnostic principles and problem-solving techniques to establish faults
- Follow recognised repair procedures to complete a wide range of repairs including those which involve complex procedures, or in-depth knowledge
- Test the function of repaired and fitted components
- Interpret diagnostic information and use electrical wiring diagrams to determine system serviceability
- Obtain diagnostic and repair information
- Complete a range of services and inspect and prepare a vehicle to the required quality standard for handover to the customer
Requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills and a good grasp of the theoretical and practical aspects of a vehicle’s systems
- Adaptable, flexible and enjoys the challenge of resolving new problems every day
- Customer focused with sharp attention to detail
- Ability to listen to and learn from college lecturers, colleagues and mentors
- Disciplined attitude is required
- To have a keen & genuine interest in the Automotive Trade
- Enthusiastic and use initiative at all times
- Previous garage workshop experience or a recognised qualification in Vehicle Repair (such as an IMI or City and Guilds diploma)
- Good Team working skills
- Good Communication skills
- Good working ethic
Qualifications
- Ideally grades 4/C and above in GCSE Maths and English
