Apprentice

About the Role

An Apprentice will perform on-the-job training and gain practical experience in the electrical trade under the supervision of a licensed electrician or electrical contractor. The position involves installation, alterations, additions, and repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within commercial, industrial, or residential settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance of systems, equipment, and fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, including wiring, switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, transformers, and other components.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams, and technical specifications to understand layouts, identify materials, and execute installations.
• Handle and safely use hand and power tools such as wire cutters, pliers, screwdrivers, conduit benders, voltage testers, and drills.
• Assist in routing, pulling, and securing electrical wires, cables, and conduits according to building codes and safety regulations, including measuring, cutting, stripping, and connecting wires.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems, diagnose faulty circuits, and make repairs under the guidance of experienced electricians.
• Follow safety protocols, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to electrical codes and standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to installations, repairs, and inspections, including tracking materials and work performed.
• Engage in continuous learning through classes, workshops, or educational opportunities to enhance knowledge of electrical theory, codes, and emerging technologies.
• Demonstrate professionalism and collaboration by working effectively with electricians, contractors, and clients.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• Extended hours may be required, varying by job and site.
• May need to work weekends if business needs require.
• Regular attendance is essential.

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
• Lift up to 75 pounds.
• Constantly moving on your feet for 8+ hours per day.
• Climb ladders of all types and perform overhead work for full-day assignments.
• Transition from employee parking to construction work areas, including accessing all building levels via OSHA-approved ladders or stairs under construction.
• Possess good vision (normal or corrected) and the ability to positively identify wire colors.

Qualifications

• Current driver’s license and personal transportation (most job sites lack public transportation).
• Enrolled in an Electrical Apprenticeship program or comparable.
• 1-2 years of experience in electrical construction.
• Must pass a drug test, background screen, and motor vehicle record (MVR) check.

Skills & Abilities

• Comprehend and read prints and schematics.
• Bend conduit by hand using hand benders.
• Use power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches.
• Dig trenches using hand tools or power equipment.
• Follow safe work procedures as outlined in company safety policies (e.g., Haz-Com, Lockout/Tagout).
• Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, and basic drawings.
• Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas-powered).

Compensation is commensurate with experience and paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust pay ranges based on candidate qualifications.
