Apprentice

About the Role

An Apprentice will perform on-the-job training and gain practical experience in the electrical trade under the supervision of a licensed electrician or electrical contractor. The position involves installation, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the commercial, industrial, or residential electrical industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist with electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, including wiring, switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, transformers, and other components.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams, and technical specifications to understand system layouts, identify materials, and execute installations.
• Handle and safely use hand and power tools such as wire cutters, pliers, screwdrivers, conduit benders, voltage testers, and drills.
• Assist in routing, pulling, and securing electrical wires, cables, and conduits according to building codes and safety regulations, including measuring, cutting, stripping, and connecting wires.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems, diagnose faulty circuits, and make necessary repairs under the guidance of experienced electricians.
• Follow safety protocols, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to electrical codes and standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to electrical installations, repairs, and inspections, including tracking materials used and work performed.
• Engage in continuous learning through classes, workshops, or educational opportunities to enhance knowledge of electrical theory, codes, and emerging technologies.
• Demonstrate professionalism and collaboration by working effectively with electricians, contractors, and clients to ensure project coordination and customer satisfaction.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• Extended hours may be required, varying by job and site.
• May need to work weekends based on business needs.
• Regular attendance is essential.

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
• Lift up to 75 pounds.
• Constantly move on your feet for 8+ hours per day.
• Climb ladders (all types) and perform overhead work for full-day assignments.
• Transition from employee parking to construction work areas, including accessing all building levels via OSHA-approved ladders or stairs under construction.
• Possess good vision (normal or corrected) and the ability to positively identify wire colors.

Qualifications

• Current driver’s license and personal transportation (most job sites lack public transportation).
• Enrolled in an Electrical Apprenticeship program or comparable.
• 1-2 years of experience in electrical construction.
• Must pass a drug test, background screen, and motor vehicle record (MVR) check.

Skills & Abilities

• Read and comprehend prints and schematics.
• Bend conduit by hand using hand benders.
• Use power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches.
• Dig trenches using hand tools or power equipment.
• Follow safe work procedures as outlined in company safety policies (e.g., Haz-Com, Lockout/Tagout).
• Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, and basic drawings.
• Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas-powered).

Compensation is commensurate with experience and paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust pay ranges based on candidate qualifications.
