About the role
Washington County is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Appraisal Assistant to support our property appraisal team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of fieldwork, data analysis, and customer interaction. You'll play a key part in ensuring accurate property assessments that support essential county services.
What You'll Do
- Collect and verify property data through site visits, measurements, and inspections
- Take photos and document property characteristics (interior & exterior)
- Absorb and map using appraisal and CAMA software
- Review property records, legal documents, and subdivision data
- Enter and maintain accurate data in county systems and spreadsheets
- Support appraisal staff with research and administrative tasks
- Absorb the public by answering questions in person, over the phone, and in the field
- Help process residential exemption applications and verify documentation
- Collaborate with building departments and internal teams
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in real estate, construction, or customer service (or equivalent combination)
Additional Requirements
- A valid Utah driver's license
- Ability to perform fieldwork in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to complete required appraisal coursework within 12 months
