About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Setup Machinist to join our team. This role involves the setup, operation, and adjustment of CNC Swiss-type and turning/milling centers to produce precision components to exacting specifications. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, quality-focused, and capable of working with minimal supervision in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Swiss-type automatic lathes (Citizen, Star) and CNC turning/milling centers.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and process sheets.
• Select and install tooling, collets, and guide bushings; adjust offsets and tool geometry.
• Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, comparators, gauges).
• Monitor machine cycles, adjust feed/speed parameters, and troubleshoot issues to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work area clean and organized.
• Document production runs, record cycle times, and communicate any deviations to management.

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC Swiss-type or CNC turning/milling equipment.
• Proficiency in reading geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprints.
• Strong working knowledge of cutting tool selection, speeds and feeds, and material properties (stainless steel, aluminum, brass, alloy steels).
• Experience with CNC controls (Fanuc, Mitsubishi, or similar) and ability to edit programs at the machine control.
• Ability to perform accurate inspections with surface plates, optical comparators, and CMM a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in machining strongly preferred.

Pay & Schedule

• Full-time, first shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM); overtime available as needed.
• Pay range: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour, depending on experience.
