Applied Scientist, Prime Video - Generative AI (Video)

About the role

Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. As an Applied Scientist, you will push the envelope of AI content generation, contributing directly to productions using innovative tools in computer vision, deep learning, and generative AI to transform entertainment experiences.

The ideal candidate has deep knowledge in graphics, deep learning, generative AI, and/or reinforcement learning, with experience applying them to real-world problems. You will understand tradeoffs between business needs and model complexity, take calculated risks in developing rapid prototypes, and iterate on model improvements. You will collaborate with seasoned scientists, engineers, and business leaders while effectively translating technical findings into production systems and business action.

Responsibilities

• Build generative AI models that create production-ready content, including movie content, localized assets, and visual marketing materials used across Prime Video's global platform.
• Drive end-to-end machine learning projects that have a high degree of ambiguity, scale, and complexity.
• Build, experiment, optimize, and deploy machine learning models.
• Run experiments, gather data, and perform statistical analysis.
• Establish scalable, efficient, and automated processes for large-scale data analysis, model development, validation, and serving.
• Research new and innovative machine learning approaches.
• Share knowledge and research outcomes via internal and external conferences and journal publications.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of building models for business applications.
• PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or a related language.
• Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Unix/Linux.
• Experience in professional software development.

Pay

The base salary range for this position in Sunnyvale, CA is $171,600.00 - $222,200.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
