About the role

Join the AWS AI team to build state-of-the-art recommendation systems and personalization engines at scale, transforming how millions of customers discover products, content, and experiences. As part of Amazon Personalize, you’ll develop machine learning technology used by Amazon.com and make it accessible to developers worldwide. You’ll collaborate with technology and business teams to solve real-world personalization challenges, leveraging vast data and computational resources. Your work will include publishing findings at peer-reviewed conferences and journals while tackling topics such as large-scale recommendation models, sequential and session-based recommendations, cold-start personalization, real-time contextual recommendations, representation learning, and integrating foundation models and LLMs into recommendation pipelines.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience building models for business applications.
  • PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field (with 4+ years of experience).
  • Experience with patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Unix/Linux.
  • Professional software development experience.

Pay

Base salary range for this position in Seattle, WA: $142,800 – $193,200 USD annually. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
