About the role

We are seeking an Applied Scientist II to lead the development of cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions that enhance the Qualtrics experience. This role involves personalizing user interactions, driving innovation, and contributing to the advancement of AI technology.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage deep knowledge of AI principles, including machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and reinforcement learning.
  • Develop and optimize algorithms for scalable and efficient GenAI applications.
  • Tackle challenging problems creatively, using generative models to address real-world use cases.
  • Show strong programming skills in Python and proficiency in deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to research, implement, evaluate, optimize, productize, and maintain cutting-edge machine learning models.
  • Contribute to and lead design reviews, modeling discussions, and technical activities.
  • Design and build Agentic AI systems to solve complex customer challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and Ph.D. in Computer Science or related fields.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals and tool ecosystem.
  • 3+ years of combined academic and industrial research experience in machine learning, NLP, information retrieval, deep learning, or a related field.
  • Experience with Agentic AI systems, including design, development, and rigorous evaluation of agent performance.
  • Deep learning implementation expertise (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
  • Excellent command of at least one modern programming language (Python).
  • Depth in one or more areas: Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, Speech Processing, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, etc.
  • Knowledge of or experience in building production-quality and large-scale deployment of machine learning applications.
  • Experience in machine learning systems (SageMaker, MLFlow) and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, MXNet).
  • Preference for a publication record in top-tier ML and NLP conferences.

Pay

The base annual pay range for this position is $167,500—$220,000 USD. Additional compensation may include a sign-on bonus and restricted stock units.
