About the Role

The Applied Research Scientist II will join Dr. Anna Coghill's research team in the Department of Cancer Epidemiology. The program seeks to understand what drives differences in cancer presentation, treatment, progression, and outcomes among people living with HIV. Originating in population-based secondary-data research, the portfolio now integrates clinical and epidemiologic data with tumor molecular and immune features, markers of accelerated biological aging, and area-level influences on access to and completion of cancer care.

Position Highlights

  • Non-tenure-track scientific position within a collaborative clinical and translational research team in Moffitt's Population Science Research Division.
  • Substantive opportunities to lead analyses and co-author peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and scientific presentations across multiple NCI-funded projects.
  • Regular interaction with Dr. Coghill and multidisciplinary team members, with increasing independence after orientation to the team's research portfolio and workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research informatics and database-management activities, including integrating REDCap outputs with reproducible R workflows to streamline data quality review, reporting, analysis, and visualization.
  • Independently analyze Moffitt clinical, epidemiologic, and molecular datasets; interpret results; and translate findings into figures, tables, presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Provide scientific and operational oversight for multiple R01-funded projects, including milestone and performance tracking, progress reporting, independent problem-solving and decision-making, and coordination of team members.

Requirements

The ideal candidate:

  • Has strong applied research experience in epidemiology, biostatistics or data science; subject area expertise is not required, but experience with infections and cancer research or global work is desirable.
  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency in R and experience with management of complex clinical or molecular datasets; knowledge of REDCap or other database software is strongly preferred.
  • Has experience leading statistical analyses and manuscript development and exercising sound independent judgment while working effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

PhD or other doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, public health, behavioral or natural sciences, or a closely related discipline with at least 2 years as an Applied Research Scientist or equivalent is required.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
