Applied Research Mathematician
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and perform work involving the development and application of mathematical methods to solve complex problems across a variety of subject areas.
- Leverage advanced mathematics, algorithm development, and modeling techniques to support mission-driven analysis and research efforts.
Requirements
Level 2: 5 years of relevant experience in the design, development, use, and evaluation of mathematical models, methods, and/or techniques (e.g., algorithm development) to study issues and solve problems. A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with at least 24 credit hours of advanced mathematics.
Level 3: 8 years of relevant experience in the design, development, use, and evaluation of mathematical models, methods, and/or techniques (e.g., algorithm development) to study issues and solve problems. A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with at least 24 credit hours of advanced mathematics.
Level 4: 11 years of relevant experience in the design, development, use, and evaluation of mathematical models, methods, and/or techniques (e.g., algorithm development) to study issues and solve problems. A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with at least 24 credit hours of advanced mathematics.
US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
At least 24 credit hours of advanced mathematics.
Skills
Experience with mathematical modeling, algorithm development, and analytic problem-solving.
Strong foundation in advanced mathematics, including areas such as discrete mathematics, linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
Strong analytical mindset with attention to rigor, accuracy, and logical consistency.
