Applied Research Engineer

About the role

Salesforce is seeking talented software and platform engineers to join the AI team. This role involves bringing cutting-edge AI technology into customer-facing reality, building tools and pipelines, deploying services, and working with end-users.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside other research engineers to bring theory into practice.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain production services like APIs, UIs, and agentic evaluators.
• Help gather end-user requirements and present to executives.

Requirements

• Strong abilities with Python and Linux.
• Experience with production cloud deployments like AWS or GCP.
• Kubernetes experience is a plus.
• Field-debugging full-stack deployments experience.
• Understanding of security principles and best practices.
• UI and graphic design sensibilities are a plus.
• Ability to write high-quality, low-cognitive-load, fully-tested code.

Qualifications

• Experience with AI and machine learning technologies.
• Knowledge of Generative AI and Agentic Systems.
• Experience in developing and deploying AI-driven solutions.

Skills

• Python programming.
• Linux command-line operations.
• Cloud deployment and management (AWS/GCP).
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Understanding of security best practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively with researchers and developers.

Pay

The typical base salary range for this position is $148,500 - $260,100 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range is $178,900 - $285,800 annually.
