Applied AI Engineer

About the role

A global private investment firm with over $120 billion in assets under management is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join their AI Innovation Lab. This role involves prototyping and integrating AI-powered solutions to drive business value.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-powered prototypes and pilots, including chat/agent experiences, workflow automation, and intelligent copilots for internal teams.
• Integrate LLMs and other AI services with enterprise systems such as APIs, data warehouses, and productivity tools.
• Stand up vector retrieval/embedding pipelines and lightweight orchestration layers for pilots.
• Own prompt engineering and system prompt design for pilot use cases.
• Run small-scale evaluations and instrument prototypes to capture feedback and usage data.
• Work with the Data MVP/Platform team to transition successful pilots to governed solutions.
• Implement privacy, security, and compliance controls as defined by the Lab and CTO.
• Document pilot architecture, data flows, and limitations, and partner with AI Enablement Specialists to teach business users.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in software engineering, ML engineering, or applied data science.
• Experience building with large language models or similar advanced AI systems.
• Strong Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript skills.
• Familiarity with data platforms and modern data stacks, such as Snowflake.
• Comfort working in ambiguous problem spaces and understanding AI governance and security.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or related field.

Pay

Salary: $175,000 – $250,000, Plus Bonus
