About the role

This hybrid position at CHS Dakota Plains Ag in Glyndon, MN combines truck driving and custom application work, depending on the season and business needs. As a Truck Driver, you will transport products and supplies for farmers, ranchers, feed & seed stores, gas stations, and refineries, building long-lasting customer relationships. As a Custom Applicator, you will work independently to apply fertilizer and crop protection products, operating sprayers and floaters while managing field time and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Apply fertilizer and crop protection products using high clearance sprayers or floaters.
  • Pick up and deliver product to customers as needed.
  • Interact with customers professionally, educating them on products, techniques, and ongoing support.
  • Assist sales staff in ensuring accurate orders and meeting patron needs.
  • Perform warehouse tasks, including operating loaders, forklifts, and handling maintenance.
  • Lift and load products for 1–2 hours per day.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws, including pre-trip/post-trip reporting, load securement, and hours of service.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and complete daily maintenance inspections.
  • Perform equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Complete other assigned duties as needed.

Training Provided

  • Crop protection product mixing.
  • Operation of application equipment.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in Agriculture Production, Operations, and/or Agriculture Application.
  • Must meet minimum age requirement.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English and understand highway traffic signs and signals.
  • Maintain or obtain a CDL and DOT medical card.
  • Willingness to work additional hours, including occasional weekends and overnight stays.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Hazmat, Tanker, and Air Brake endorsements preferred.
  • Agriculture background and customer experience preferred.
  • Bulk liquid, Pressure trailer, or Forklift experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.
  • Ability to climb rail cars, ladders, stairs, bins, and into trailers.
  • Ability to work in dust, adverse weather conditions, and varying temperatures.

Pay

Competitive base wage with potential for bonus, incentives, and commissions. Actual pay varies based on experience, education, training, skills, certifications, and local wage requirements.
