About The Job
Our Applicators apply herbicides and pesticides to labeled crops as directed by their leader. They also operate and perform maintenance on all applicator equipment. Their daily responsibilities include:
- Correctly mixing pesticides, fertilizers, and chemicals for application.
- Maintaining accurate logs and reports on applicated acres.
- Performing maintenance and calibration on application equipment.
- Performing maintenance on other equipment.
- Wearing proper safety protection gear.
- Participating in continuing education to maintain pesticide applicator license.
- Attending applicator equipment workshops.
- Driving a company vehicle.
- Providing excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
- Completing other work-related duties as assigned by their leader.
Education & Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A CDL is preferred.
- Experience in operating large equipment is required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Mechanically inclined.
- Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of ag pesticides.
- Ability to read field maps and use tractor-mounted field computers.
- Professional competence to safety.
- Ability to pass a CDL physical examination.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Ability to work nights, overtime, and some weekend hours during busy seasons.
- Ability to read, write, and speak in English. Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.
- Valid U.S. driver's license to drive a company vehicle.
- To operate a moving vehicle or interact with heavy equipment, applicants must meet the legal age requirement.
- Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions at Helena.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB
The work environment for this position is primarily outdoor, with exposure to various weather conditions and outdoor elements. Employees may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations, and risks of electrical shock. Essential job functions include using hands for many tasks, talking, hearing, walking, sitting, standing (for extended periods), lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to 50 lbs or more), reaching overhead (up to 25 lbs), climbing, gripping, grasping, twisting using hands and wrists, bending, stooping, working below knee levels, and working above shoulder levels for short periods.
