About the Role

The Applications & Sales Engineer receive requests for proposals from Account Managers or other Sales channels. They work with engineering to determine the appropriate R.A Jones machine solution, develop the Cost/Pricing Worksheet, and prepare the proposal. When an order is received, this role prepares the Order Card and conducts the Order Card meeting, at which time the order is handed off to the Project Manager.

Provide technical expertise and support to the Account Managers and customers for R.A Jones New Equipment and Modernizations. Configure the machine to be quoted based on the RFQ Checklist submitted. Prepare and Submit Firm and Budgetary proposals for Account Managers. Assist Account Managers with machine capabilities and ballpark pricing for project screening. Work with Application Engineering to determine concepts and cost estimates for custom New Equipment and Modernizations.

Preliminary review of customer’s specifications to determine the appropriate stakeholders required for a detailed review. Prepare and submit Firm Proposal Approval forms, as needed, for firm proposals. Keep the CRM system current for all assigned Opportunities. Responsible for updating and keeping current the Cost Worksheet templates and the proposal templates for their assigned machine lines. Prepare Order Card when a PO is received for a machine proposed, conduct the Order Card Meeting and hand off to the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Machine/Line layout reading skills required.
  • Strong customer service, leadership, and sales support skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate active listening, organized presentation, and effective writing skills.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, and PowerPoint) and the ability to effectively utilize CRM tools, such as Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Able to travel to customer locations, as needed, in support of sales.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combined experience with an emphasis on technical selling.

Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Flexible schedule accommodating domestic travel up to 25% of working time – some international travel could also be required.
