Applications Gauging CNC Technician

About the role

Bowers Group is seeking an experienced CNC Technician to join our Bradford team, producing high-precision parts that support our world-class measurement solutions. As a skilled machinist reporting to the Machine Shop Lead, you’ll set up, programme, and operate HAAS CNC machines for turning and milling operations, handling small batch runs from prototypes to short production runs. You’ll also programme vertical machining centres using OneCNC CADCAM, ensuring efficiency and the highest quality.

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings and study sample parts
• Select tooling and produce components to exact specifications
• Set up, programme, and operate HAAS CNC machines for turning and milling operations
• Programme vertical machining centres using OneCNC CADCAM
• Perform manual machining on Bridgeport mills and centre lathes
• Use micrometers, DTI gauges, and gauge blocks to ensure parts meet tolerances
• Maintain high-quality standards through inspection and accuracy
• Support general shopfloor tasks, maintain safety, housekeeping, and PPE compliance
• Apply a methodical approach to meet deadlines

Requirements

• Mechanical or manufacturing engineering qualification, ideally time-served
• Experience in high-precision machining, CNC programming/editing
• Experience machining ferrous and non-ferrous metals
• CADCAM experience is advantageous
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Accuracy, initiative, and enthusiasm for engineering
• Ability to thrive in a varied environment
