The Opportunity
JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, drives customer success globally through intelligent automated manufacturing and distribution technology solutions. We seek an Application Engineer in Auburn Hills, MI to develop innovative automation solutions.
Location Type
This is a hybrid role requiring three to four days onsite at our Auburn Hills, MI office.
Responsibilities
- Review customer technical specifications and requirements to prepare System Concepts, Costs, Risk Assessments, and Proposal Documents.
- Apply JRA Corporate Practices, Procedures, and Tools, focusing on the Applications Engineering Department.
- Coordinate and execute large multi-business unit quotes.
- Manage core customers.
- Develop internal win strategies and quote package development, addressing customer pain points.
- Generate and render conceptual solutions for customer problems, often without precedent solutions.
- Facilitate concept brainstorming and lead docket review meetings.
- Coordinate and schedule preliminary and final reviews of Audience Quote Packages, including internal and external assessments.
- Develop Proposals that clearly outline the Scope of Work, Rate of Production, Machine Buy-off requirements, and Customer Part requirements throughout Project Phases.
- Aid in the mentorship of less experienced Applications Engineers, Co-ops, and Interns.
- Aid Account Managers by leveraging pain points and competitive advantages into Proposals.
- Travel independently or with an Account Manager to present in meetings with internal functional teams, upper management, and customers.
- Schedule and facilitate Project Kickoff Meetings for PEP.
- Support functional team members by facilitating required Tollgate Meetings and consulting with the PM for scope variations.
- Attend early Phase Project Design Reviews to ensure conformance to "As Sold" Scope of Work.
Requirements
- 5+ years of industry experience leading successful projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field or equivalent industry experience.
- Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering preferred.
- Background in automated manufacturing or industrial systems, particularly in areas like Press/Stamping, Aerospace/Defense, General Industry/Consumer Goods Automation, Tire & Wheel Assembly, Energy (Battery Assembly), or Automotive General Automation.
- Experience in sales and/or customer interaction.
