Position Summary
As an Applications Engineer, you will formulate engineered estimates and budgets for new and existing clients, interfacing with various departments and stakeholders.
Organizational Relationships
- Interface with Account Managers, Support Services, Implementation Coordinators, Project Managers and Proposal Support Department on a regular basis.
- Interface with Customers, Manufacturer’s Representatives, Manufacturer’s Technical staff, Distribution Suppliers and Supply Vendors on a regular basis.
- Interface with area and senior leadership to develop a win strategy and evaluate the dynamics of projects.
- Work with fellow application engineers providing guidance and or design aid in projects and products that are unfamiliar to them.
Scope of Responsibility
- Develop project requirements from interviews, customer provided scope of work, site surveys, specification, pricing sheets and drawing reviews.
- Develop and provide detailed equipment list, electrical requirements, installation requirements and costing for turn-key security system solutions.
- Configure and quote proprietary Pre-Fabrication of applicable access control, CCTV and other systems.
- Estimate installation costs in conjunction with Implementation Operations, Service Operations, Internal Labor and External Labor.
- Review Field Site Survey documents and drawings.
- Supports the RFI, RFP, RFQ and RFM&S process as needed.
Essential Functions
- Product selection and application (to ensure the right product is used in the right application) while maintaining adherence to Securitas’s product selection process and design standards.
- Review architectural, electrical, telecommunication, security engineering floor plans, riser drawings, device schedules, detail drawings, interconnect and closet layout drawings.
- Interpret specifications, addendums, revisions, sketches and Scope of work.
- Work with project managers and design engineers for creating change orders on existing and ongoing projects.
- Manage assigned projects and maintain deadlines for each project.

- Be prompt, reliable, and on time in all aspects of your engagement while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Perform any additional duties as required or assigned.
Special Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Experience: 5-7 Years
- Education: BA Business/ BS Engineering/MS Engineering
- Applicable amount of experience in the appropriate field may be substituted for the educational background.
- Thorough understanding of electronic security systems, their individual parts, and the onsite labor necessary to complete an installation.
- Ability to read and understand written specifications, drawings and controlling documents.
- Computer skills to include: MS Office Acrobat Visio DWG Writer Big Machines Sales Force dot com
- Good communications kills
- Able to procure subcontractor pricing
- Able to level bids from multiple subcontractors
- Excellent working knowledge of construction industry conventions
- Good understanding of workload and the requirements to maintain commitments.
- Ability to assemble all cost aspects of a project
- Ability to recognize strategic and competitive issues
- Ability to challenge labor bids from subs for various labor categories including IBEW
- Able to navigate high value job environment for timelines, and compliance requirements
- Firm grasp of the competitive environment and strategic plays by competitors
- Excellent command and knowledge of building code requirements
