Job Summary
The Applications Engineer serves as the technical liaison between Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customers. This role is responsible for developing customer-specific application solutions, developing sales order proposals, and ensuring a smooth transition from pre-sales activities to project execution. The Applications Engineer applies engineering knowledge to evaluate customer requirements, define system concepts, and provide customers with solutions.Essential Functions
- Review customer inquiries and specifications to offer a proposal for a mutually agreed-upon solution
- Develop application concepts, system layouts, and recommended configurations
- Serve as the technical point of contact during the pre-sales phase in support of Sales Engineers
- Participate in customer meetings and technical discussions
- Create budgets and write proposals to send out to customers
- Prepare technical documentation supporting proposals and the scope of definition
- Aid with cost estimating and participate in contract review meetings
- Support Engineering and Project Management handoff and answer application-related questions throughout the project lifecycle
- Absorb reviews of Customer Purchase Orders (POs)
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 2–5 years of experience in applications, manufacturing, or sales engineering
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineered-to-order environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the manufacturing industry
- Customer-facing technical experience
- Familiarity with specification review and proposal development
