About the role

Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to plan, direct, design, and coordinate project documentation such as engineering drawings, production specifications, schedules, and contract modifications. The role ensures customer contract requirements are met, works on new designs, and improves existing designs using AutoCAD and Inventor.

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Submit project documentation to management for approval and transmit approved documents to the customer.
  • Perform thermal design of products based on customer specifications.
  • Create and revise drawings accurately and completely, conforming to drafting standards.
  • Generate engineering drawings for internal engineering and/or manufacture by metalworkers.
  • Produce working drawings from prints, marked-up prints, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Perform engineering file updates and maintenance.
  • Refine ideas and concepts originated by others and develop improvements.
  • Communicate with engineers, managers, customers, and others to discuss projects and prepare documents.
  • Improve existing products to meet market needs or reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Optimize design content for performance, cost, and time-to-market requirements.
  • Participate in the development process from design concept through tooling and initial production.
  • Provide engineering support to R&D and Manufacturing.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or similar 3D software.
  • Use Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fluid flow and heat transfer.
  • Proficiency in solid modeling programs (Inventor, ProE, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Work Environment

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment. When in the manufacturing facility, employees must wear personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, and OSHA-compliant safety boots/shoes.

Physical Demands

  • May remain stationary for long periods while operating a computer and office machinery.
  • Occasionally moves about the office to access filing cabinets or operate machinery.
  • May lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional visits to the shop, which is a non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles.

Schedule

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
