Applications Engineer
Act as the key liaison between customers, sales, vendors, engineering, and production to manage repair projects within the service center.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison between customers, sales, vendors, engineering, and production to coordinate all aspects of repair projects.
- Determine repair scope and develop detailed cost summaries and quotations for repair jobs in the service center.
- Prepare and issue accurate quotations based on technical evaluation, customer requirements, and internal cost structures.
- Create comprehensive work instructions that include all pertinent information required to process repairs through the service center.
- Review and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks to support repair and manufacturing activities.
- Coordinate repair activities with the shop floor, ensuring that work instructions, drawings, and materials are complete and accurate.
- Use SAP or other ERP systems to enter, track, and manage repair orders, purchase orders, and project-related data.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues related to pump repair, pump parts manufacturing, and related equipment.
- Support the development and implementation of repair solutions that meet fit, form, and function requirements for components.
- Communicate effectively with shop personnel to ensure they understand job requirements, timelines, and technical expectations.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with customers regarding job status, technical questions, and any changes to scope or cost.
- Apply project management principles to ensure repair jobs are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Use strong organizational and analytical skills to prioritize workloads, manage multiple repair projects, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to repair processes, documentation, and use of ERP tools.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and supports a strong safety culture in the shop.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing and shop processes related to repair of pumps and manufacturing of pump parts or closely related equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
- Working experience and knowledge of ERP systems; SAP experience strongly desired.
- Technical knowledge of pump design and repair, including fit, form, and function of components (preferred but highly beneficial).
- Mechanical engineering experience with hands-on understanding of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Experience preparing quotations and cost summaries for repair or manufacturing projects.
- Ability to create and manage purchase orders and related documentation within an ERP environment.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including diplomacy and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with shop floor personnel and customers in a technical environment.
- Mechanical engineering project management experience in a repair or manufacturing setting.
Skills
- Pump and equipment manufacturing or repair experience is a strong plus.
- Practical experience with pump repair, pump design, and equipment repair.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks for reviewing and interpreting mechanical drawings.
- Exposure to team-oriented, small-shop environments.
Work Environment
This role operates in a small, collaborative team environment of approximately 13 people, with about 6 employees working in the shop. The service center is a temperature-controlled shop, providing a comfortable and consistent working environment. Safety is a core priority, and the organization emphasizes a strong safety culture in all operations. The team-oriented culture supports close collaboration between engineering, shop personnel, and other functions. The company provides uniform cleaning service to support a professional and practical dress standard in the shop.

Pay
$33.65 - $36.06/hour.
