Job Summary
The AAON Controls Support Sales Application Engineer interfaces with our independent manufacturer’s representatives, as well as consulting engineers, and mechanical contractors to provide controls applications recommendations and answer application questions. This includes analyzing job controls specifications to determine how AAON controls solutions can meet customer-specific requirements.
Responsibilities
- Create and nurture relationships with the AAON Rep Force and key internal team members to identify, analyze and report controls sales weaknesses and opportunities.
- Confer with manufacturer’s reps, specifying engineers, contractors, and others to discuss existing or potential controls application issues and provide technical support.
- Apply engineering knowledge to generate solutions for HVAC controls applications.
- Provide customer or in-house advanced troubleshooting assistance.
- Perform controls product testing.
- Analyze customer controls specifications to determine feasibility of controls applications.
- Provide price quotes for controls products and systems.
- Provide controls training.
- Collaborate with other staff to analyze issues and arrive at solutions.
- Provide input for modifications of existing and new products to ensure conformance with engineering design/specifications.
- Provide technical support to assist internal personnel in product applications issues.
- Travel is expected with this position.
Requirements
- An individual in this job must have attained a minimum of a BA or BS degree in an HVAC related field, building integration and controls.
- Seven to ten years of HVAC and/or controls experience could be considered in lieu of education.
- Professional Engineer’s licensure, EIT and/or LEED certification is a plus.

- Must work well alone and on a team.
- Ability to make engineering decisions based on HVAC system design requirements.
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- General computer knowledge.
- Experience with AutoCAD a plus.
Work Environment
- Lift up to 30 lbs.
- Able to be comfortably seated at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
